DIY projects to tackle with dad this Father’s Day

In the hustle and bustle of modern living, it can be easy to live past one another. Father’s Day can provide a great opportunity to slow down and spend some quality time together as a family. Tackling a DIY project together can be one way to bond and create lasting memories as a family.
Sharing some ideas, RE/MAX of Southern Africa lists some fun and creative DIY projects you can tackle this Father’s Day...
Bonding over a birdhouse
This can be as detailed or as simple as your DIY skills allow. After the construction work is finished, the younger children can get involved in decorating it. Once it’s completed, find a suitable spot in the garden or on the balcony to hang it up. Not only will it serve as a nice reminder of the time you spent together, but it might also allow you to tackle another activity together – bird watching!
DIY projector & screen
Enjoy a movie night in cinema style by creating your own projector and screen. A screen can be made by building a simple frame using PVC pipes and attaching a white sheet. The projector is a little trickier but can still be a fun project to tackle together. You’ll need an old shoebox, a small magnifying lens, a small piece of mirror, an LED flashlight, and a glue gun to secure it all together.
Create a fun tool board
If you’re a dad who loves working in the garage, involve the children in helping you create a tool board to organise your tools. This can be a simple project. All you need is a sturdy wooden board, hooks, and pegs to hang tools like hammers, wrenches, and pliers. Before you put the hooks in, ask the children to paint and decorate the wooden board.
“Home is where we learn, grow, and create lasting bonds with family and friends. That’s why property transactions can be so emotional. When it comes time to sell our homes, or to find a new home, it is important to partner with somebody you can trust. My advice is to take your time and interview a few real estate professionals to make sure you find somebody on whom you can rely to deliver professional results and to consider your specific needs,” concludes Adrian Goslett, Regional Director and CEO of RE/MAX of Southern Africa.
