Miss Namibia: Crowning draws nearer

The Miss Namibia Beauty Pageant – powered by the NBC – hosted a sponsor event at the broadcaster’s head office in its newly revamped Studio 4 earlier this week.
The event was aimed at engaging and interacting with sponsors as well as enhancing existing relationships.
Speaking at the event, NBC director-general Stanley Similo said that “for us to survive, we need to work hand-in-hand with sponsors. It would not matter how little or how huge your contribution is because that is what makes a great Namibia.”
He also spoke about the power of pageants, reminiscing about the two most phenomenal days in the history of Namibian pageantry – in 1992 when Michelle McLean won the Miss Universe title and then in 1995, when the Miss Universe Pageant was held in Windhoek.
He thanked McLean for her contributions and for making her country proud. At the same time, Similo announced that McLean is now the official Patron of the Miss Namibia Beauty Pageant.
In his keynote address, NBC board chairman Lazarus Jacobs spoke about the importance of ambassadorship and representing what you stand for. Jacobs added that NBC was recently awarded as the “Most Admired Brand” in Namibia, which is why the broadcaster facilitates the role of ambassadors and creates platforms for ambassadors in Namibia, for Namibia.
He also thanked all the sponsors for their contributions to the Miss Namibia Beauty Pageant.
The crowning ceremony for Miss Teen Namibia takes place on Thursday 11 August, followed by the crowning of Miss Namibia on 12 August. Tickets cost N$450 and N$650 for VIP tickets, via www.webtickets.com.na and at Pick N Pay stores countrywide.
Both events take place at the Windhoek Country Club and will be broadcast online.
