Namibia’s wine industry has made a bold statement on the international stage after Neuras Wine and Wildlife Estate, under the N/a’an ku sê Foundation, took top honours at the 2025 Gilbert & Gaillard International Challenge – one of the most respected global wine competitions. In a clean sweep, every wine entered by Neuras earned a Gold medal, with its Nappa Grappa securing the rare and highly sought-after Double Gold award.
Award-winning wines:

Neuras Ruby Dessert Wine – Gold (Dessert Wine)
Neuras Nappa Grappa – Double Gold (Grappa)
Major achievement
The win not only marks a major achievement for Neuras but also places Namibia firmly on the map in the world of fine wines and spirits. Gilbert & Gaillard, a French wine competition, is known for blind tastings conducted by a panel of international experts who assess wines against strict quality standards.
Speaking about the milestone, Rudie van Vuuren, co-founder and managing director of N/a’an ku sê, said:
“We created Neuras to be more than just a vineyard – a place where wine and purpose come together. This international recognition is a win not just for us, but for everyone we serve through our conservation and community work.”
Located in a rugged, semi-arid stretch between Namibia’s mountains and desert, Neuras is one of the driest vineyards in the world. It produces wines of remarkable character, shaped by the harsh yet beautiful environment, and funnels all its proceeds into wildlife conservation and community upliftment projects.
The man behind the award-winning blends, Neuras winemaker Braam Gericke, added: “Crafting wine in a place like this is no easy task. But every challenge brings out something special. These awards are a tribute to the landscape, the process, and our team’s passion.”
N/a’an ku sê co-founder and executive director Marlice van Vuuren highlighted the broader meaning of the win:
“These medals reflect not only quality in the bottle, but a commitment to people, wildlife and land. Every harvest at Neuras supports a greater cause – from education to wildlife rescue.”
With this global recognition, Neuras Wine and Wildlife Estate continues to raise the profile of Namibian wine, showing the world that excellence can grow even in the most unexpected places – and serve a powerful purpose while doing so.
