Preparing your home for Mother’s Day celebrations

Whether you are a dad who’s helping the children plan something special, or somebody who’s hosting their mother for a lovingly prepared meal over the weekend, there is lots to be done around the home ahead of the upcoming Mother’s Day.
By putting thought and effort into preparing your home for Mother's Day celebrations, you can create a memorable and enjoyable day that your mother will cherish for years to come. To help you prepare, RE/MAX of Southern Africa shares a few reminders...
Stock up the pantry
No Mother’s Day celebration is complete without a tasty meal, whether it's breakfast in bed, brunch, or dinner. To save yourself some stress on the day, plan ahead and buy all the cooking supplies earlier in the week. That way you have more time (and energy) to spend quality time together on the day.
Clean & decorate the home
Similarly, cleaning the home ahead of time will save you some time to enjoy the day together. For those who want to go the extra mile, take the time to add personal touches throughout the house. Display family photos, handmade cards, or sentimental items that remind your mother (or the mother of your children) of special moments shared with her family.
Stationery supplies
Getting young children to do a handmade card or art project for their mom can make for a great sentimental present (dads, you should probably still supplement this with a purchased gift too). Make sure your arts and crafts drawer is well stocked ahead of Sunday. This includes wrapping paper for the Mother’s Day present.
Tailor to her tastes
The way to make the day special is to tailor everything to her taste. If you are cooking a meal, do some digging ahead of time and find out what her favourite foods are. Tailor the day’s activities to her preferences. For example, if she loves the outdoors, then set up a picnic in the backyard.
"Home is more than just walls and a roof. Homes are where memories are made and where we all gather together to celebrate special occasions. That’s why real estate transactions are so filled with emotion. We believe we’re not just in the business of selling homes, but we’re also in the business of helping others achieve their hopes, dreams, and desires," says Adrian Goslett, Regional Director and CEO of RE/MAX of Southern Africa.
