Bank Windhoek and the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Namibia (ELCIN) signed a Memorandum of Understanding on Monday, 19 October 2026, to bring financial education, financial wellness support and banking solutions closer to more than 1200 ELCIN employees and their loved ones. The agreement also strengthens commercial banking support for the Church’s parishes, subsidiaries and associated entities across Namibia. Bank Windhoek’s Financial Director, Zenaune Kamberipa, said the partnership’s focus is on financial wellness, financial literacy and greater financial inclusion. “Its value will lie in better- informed financial choices, accessible support and a relationship that continues to respond to the people it serves,” he said.

Bank Windhoek will provide financial expertise, service channels and dedicated business partners to help qualifying employees and ELCIN entities access appropriate solutions. These include salary accounts with embedded benefits for employees and their immediate family members, savings and investments, personal, home and vehicle finance, insurance, financial advisory and fiduciary services, and digital banking channels. “Financial wellness coaching and

advisory support will help participants understand their financial position, budget effectively, manage debt, protect their assets and plan with greater confidence. This support recognises that financial needs vary according to individual circumstances, income levels and life stages,” said Kamberipa.

ELCIN’s General Secretary, Rev. Dr. Johannes Haufiku, described the agreement as an important instrument for strengthening the Church’s institutional capacity and supporting its spiritual, administrative, educational and social responsibilities. “However, the value of an agreement is not determined by its signing alone, but by how faithfully and effectively it is implemented,” he said. Both institutions recognise that meaningful results depend on sustained collaboration and active participation. Bank Windhoek will provide relevant financial solutions and accessible support, while ELCIN’s leadership and structures will, in collaboration with Bank Windhoek, raise awareness, encourage participation, and communicate the needs of employees and associated entities. Together, the partners aim to strengthen financial confidence, resilience and institutional capacity through a dependable, long-term relationship.

Kamberipa concluded that Bank Windhoek, established 44 years ago, is guided by its vision to be the financial partner of choice and create sustainable value for all stakeholders. “As a proudly Namibian bank, we help customers and communities build resilience, pursue opportunities and participate more fully in the broader Namibian economy. Our commitment extends beyond providing financial services: it is about enabling progress that improves lives and strengthens the communities we serve,” he said.
