Three men accused of digging up and cutting copper cables in Dorado Valley have been denied bail following their arrest by the Windhoek City Police Service. The suspects, identified as Matheus Hipukuvala (28), Samuel Angula (28) and Lamek Shilunga (36), were allegedly caught in a riverbed along the Western Bypass where the theft occurred.

The trio made their first appearance in the Windhoek Magistrate’s Court and were remanded in custody. Their next court appearance is scheduled for 13 July 2026. Police confirmed that the stolen cables were recovered and investigations are continuing. Authorities warned that tampering with public infrastructure is a criminal offence that can severely disrupt essential telecommunication services. Residents have been urged to report any suspicious activity around cables, manholes and electrical installations.
