CRAN reports growth in mobile and broadband
The Communications Regulatory Authority (CRAN) says active SIM cards increased by 4% to 2.788 million in the fourth quarter of 2025, driven mainly by prepaid subscriptions.
CRAN spokesperson Mufaro Nesongano said mobile broadband subscriptions rose by 4%, while fixed internet subscriptions grew by 8% due to fibre expansion. Fixed-line and M2M subscriptions declined slightly, while mobile voice traffic remained flat as users shift to data services.
Cyber threats dropped by 53%, although vulnerabilities persist. Pay-TV subscriptions declined, while postal usage remained stable.
