After more than 25 years in the CBD, the Goethe-Institut Namibia is relocating.
The move will take place from the Estorff House on Fidel Castro Street to the new premises in the DELK Windhoek Community Centre. The institute will conclude its relocation on Fidel Castro Street with a celebration for the whole family on Saturday, 13 September.
"This space has become a place of encounter and creativity, education and togetherness – a bridge between cultures," says Dennis Schroeder, director of the Goethe-Institut Namibia. "Above all, we have created a space where people can come together, learn and grow through language, art and dialogue."
The move to new, larger premises is intended to continue this work and enrich it with fresh ideas.
The festival starts at 10:00 and offers a varied programme, including robot and VR stations for technology fans and a mobile planetarium for stargazing. The Goethe Café will provide refreshments with coffee and cake in the afternoon. In the evening, there will be music featuring The Yesterdaye, Steven Afrikaner, and DJ Alba Nvlo - and admission is free!
In light of the move, the institute will be closed to the public as from15 September until the new premises in the DELK Windhoek Community Centre opens in 2026. Until then, events will take place at various locations.
