NESA opens global esports qualifier
The Namibian Electronic Sports Association (NESA) today opens registrations for the Namibian National Esports Qualifiers, the official national selection competition that will determine Namibia’s team for the Global Esports Games (GEF) Los Angeles 2026, taking place from 1 to 7 December 2026 in the United States.
Five game titles will be contested: eFootball, Counter-Strike 2 (CS2), Mobile Legends: Bang Bang (MLBB), Clash Royale, and NBA 2K. Open (open to all athletes) and Women’s category competition will be offered for eFootball, MLBB, and Clash Royale, ensuring the widest possible pathway to Team Namibia. CS2 and NBA 2K will feature Open category brackets.
Registrations are now open at esportsnamibia.org and will close on Friday, 3 July 2026 at 14:00. All participants must be 18 years of age or older and hold a valid NESA membership (N$100), with an entry fee of N$50 per title entered. The qualifier will be conducted in two phases. Online bracket play for CS2, MLBB, and NBA 2K will run from 4 to 17 July 2026, with participants competing from home using their own equipment. eFootball and Clash Royale will compete in two offline qualification rounds, on 4 July and 18 July 2026 (venue to be announced). All five titles converge at the Grand Finals on Saturday, 25 July 2026, where the national representative in each category will be crowned. Bracket draws and team captain meetings are scheduled for 7 July. Athletes who win their category on 25 July will advance to the African Regional Qualifiers in August 2026. Top performers from the regional stage earn the right to represent Namibia at the GEF Grand Finals in Los Angeles in December 2026 – the most prestigious stage in international esports. “This is a straightforward opportunity: register, compete, and earn the right to represent Namibia at the Global Esports Games in December. The pathway is clear and the deadline is real – don’t sit this one out.”
– Flip de Bruyn, President, Namibian Electronic Sports Association
