Planned power outage Von Bach base substation.
Residents, businesses, and institutions supplied from the Von Bach Treatment Plant are advised to prepare for a planned power outage scheduled for Friday, 22 May 2026, from 07:00 to 18:00. According to NamPower, the outage is necessary to facilitate the extension of the 11kV and 66kV busbar to a mobile substation at the Von Bach Base substation.
The planned interruption will directly affect power supply to the NamWater Administration Building and pump stations, with several surrounding customers also expected to experience disruptions. Areas and institutions likely to be impacted include Okahandja Municipality, Gross Barmen, Osona Military Base, Osona Village, Namib Poultry Industries, the Namibian Police roadblock, Windhoek, Finkenstein, Herbothsbrick, and Hosea Kutako International Airport.
NamPower has also requested permission from Namibia Water Corporation Ltd to use internal road infrastructure for the transportation of a mobile substation and a new transformer to the site. Residents and affected stakeholders are reminded that during the outage, the electricity supply must always be treated as live, as power may be restored without prior notification.
NamPower has apologised for any inconvenience caused and urged all affected customers to take the necessary precautions ahead of the scheduled interruption.
