PM takes closer look at City's service delivery challenges
Prime Minister Elijah Ngurare on Monday paid a courtesy visit to the City of Windhoek as part of efforts to strengthen collaboration between central government and the capital's municipal authorities. The visit followed a recent engagement between the Prime Minister and the City's councillors and management at his office last month, where he committed to gaining a deeper understanding of the challenges affecting the City's ability to deliver quality municipal services to residents.
Honouring that commitment, Ngurare dedicated the day to engaging with the City of Windhoek's leadership and management to better understand the obstacles affecting service delivery and explore practical ways of addressing them. Windhoek Mayor Sakaria Uunona described the visit as a powerful demonstration of partnership, collaboration and shared accountability in advancing service delivery for the people of Windhoek.
The visit also provided an opportunity for the City to outline some of the key challenges it faces in fulfilling its mandate and delivering essential services to residents.
During the engagement, the Prime Minister received presentations from the City's Chief Executive Officer, Moses Matyayi, and strategic executives, who provided insights into the City's operations and service delivery challenges. The presentations were followed by a roundtable discussion focused on identifying practical and sustainable solutions to the City's key challenges.
The engagement is expected to contribute to stronger cooperation between the national government and the City of Windhoek, with a shared focus on improving municipal services and addressing the needs of residents.
