Rehoboth warns against illegal livestock sales

Rehoboth Town Council has warned townland tenants against unauthorised livestock sales, slaughtering and movement, cautioning that such activities could contribute to the spread of foot-and-mouth disease and other animal diseases.

The council said these activities are prohibited without approval from the Directorate of Veterinary Services or the council, as they violate the Animal Health Act of 2011. During a council meeting, tenants were warned that offenders could face fines, confiscation of livestock and legal action. The council further cautioned that repeated violations could result in the termination of grazing rights.

Tenants have been urged to comply with the regulations to protect livestock health and communal grazing resources.

The warning forms part of the council's efforts to address illegal livestock activities in townland areas and promote responsible livestock management.
