Repeat offenders denied bail
Three men accused of housebreaking in Windhoek’s Auasblick suburb have been denied bail following their arrest earlier this week. The suspects, identified as Gabriel Tobias (39), Sylvester Niilenge (41), and Faraneus Shivute Mulinei (47), were apprehended after members of the public alerted authorities to suspicious activity at a vacant property in the area. According to police, the incident took place at around 11:30 on 23 April 2026. Officers from the Windhoek City Police Service and the Namibian Police Force (NamPol) responded jointly to reports of a housebreaking in progress.
Upon arriving at the scene, law enforcement officers reportedly found the three suspects inside the property and arrested them on the spot. Authorities said all three accused are repeat offenders with a history of arrests linked to similar offences, a factor that weighed against their release on bail. The accused appeared in court shortly after their arrest, where bail was denied. They are expected to remain in custody until their next court appearance scheduled for 22 June 2026.
The Windhoek City Police Service praised members of the public for their vigilance and quick reporting, saying community cooperation continues to play a vital role in crime prevention. Police have encouraged residents to keep reporting suspicious behaviour promptly, noting that timely information from the public helps authorities respond quickly and bring offenders to justice
