The Ministry of Works and Transport on Monday received a N$75,000 sponsorship from RMB Namibia towards the acquisition of an additional NaTIS On Wheels truck, aimed at bringing essential vehicle and driver services closer to communities across Namibia.

Speaking at the handover ceremony, Minister of Works and Transport Veikko Nekundi said the sponsorship would be ring-fenced and used strictly for its intended purpose. He said the contribution would support the acquisition of another NaTIS On Wheels truck, while the Roads Authority would keep RMB Namibia informed about progress towards the purchase.

“We value transparency and accountability in how we manage every resource entrusted to us, whether from the public purse or from partners such as yourselves,” Nekundi said. The minister also called on corporate citizens, financial institutions and State-Owned Enterprises to support the initiative. He said assistance could include contributions towards the acquisition of additional trucks or support for their operational and running costs.

The NaTIS On Wheels initiative is designed to take services directly to the people, particularly those living in rural and underserved areas where access to essential services can be limited. Nekundi thanked RMB Namibia for its contribution, saying partnerships between government and the private sector were important in expanding access to public services.

The ministry said continued support from corporate partners would help extend the reach of NaTIS services to more communities across the country.
