Save the Rhino Trust Namibia welcomes support from B2Gold

Save the Rhino Trust Namibia (SRT) proudly acknowledges B2Gold’s significant contribution to rhino conservation through the Namibian Rhino Gold Bar initiative. With a donation of 1,000 ounces of gold from the Otjikoto Mine, the initiative is producing 1,000 limited edition Namibian Rhino Gold Bars to support

the protection of Namibia’s critically endangered black rhinos. Proceeds from the sale of the gold bars are directed into two critical areas: long-term, community-driven conservation financing, and a conservation

premium applied directly in the field, supporting rangers, trackers, and communities living alongside these animals across the Otjozondjupa Region and other key conservation landscapes.

Statement from John Roos, Country Manager of B2Gold Namibia:

“B2Gold is proud to be associated with the incredibly important work that the SRT is doing on the ground in the Northwest of Namibia, not only to protect an iconic species, but also to support the livelihoods of the SRT Rhino Rangers who protect our Rhinos. Through the Rhino Gold Bar Fund, B2Gold has distributed more than N$ 18,364,973.00/USD 1,078,681.00 to the SRT and other organisations that combat poaching of the Namibian Black Rhino. Namibian Gold being used to protect an iconic species – this is sustainable mining in action.”

Statement from Simson Uri-Khob, Chief Executive Officer of Save the Rhino Trust:

“We at Save the Rhino Trust Namibia are very proud of the support from B2Gold. Since the establishment of the Rhino Gold Bar Fund, it has made a significant difference to our funding sector. As a company operating in Namibia, B2Gold is not only extracting gold from Namibia, but also investing heavily back into projects across the country, ranging from education to conservation and many more. It does not only focus on the Otjozondjupa Region, where the mine is located, but also supports areas across Namibia where the needs are greatest. The Rhino Gold Bar Fund has contributed a significant amount of funding over the years, which makes B2Gold an exception in its funding strategy. From experience, I can testify that without this funding, we would never have reached some of our goals. We are very fortunate to have B2Gold in Namibia as a respected and responsible conservation partner that also supports other partners who are not able to support themselves.”
