SOS Namibia, Namboer strengthen partnership
SOS Children’s Villages Namibia and Namboer Auctioneers CC have strengthened their commitment to supporting vulnerable children, young people and families through a new partnership focused on resource mobilisation and fundraising. The two organisations signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) late last week, establishing a framework for collaboration through auctions and other fundraising initiatives.
Under the agreement, selected assets belonging to SOS Children’s Villages Namibia will be auctioned to generate financial resources for programmes supporting children, young people and families. The partnership also encourages members of the public, businesses and other stakeholders to donate unwanted or surplus items that can be auctioned to raise funds for the organisation.
The agreement builds on an earlier collaboration between SOS Children’s Villages Namibia and Namboer Auctioneers CC, which resulted in an auction held from 31 July to 1 August 2026. The auction raised N$95,557.20 for the benefit of SOS Children’s Villages Namibia. The organisations said the partnership seeks to promote a culture of giving, encourage community participation and create further opportunities to mobilise resources for children, young people and families. The MoU signing formed part of the SOS Children’s Villages Namibia Stakeholder Engagement Breakfast held on 18 September under the theme, “Celebrating Impact and Strengthening Partnerships”.
Minister of Gender Equality and Child Welfare, Emma Kantema, emphasised that child protection is a shared responsibility involving government, families, communities and partner organisations. Kantema highlighted Namibia’s commitment to care reform, which focuses on strengthening family-based and community-based care to ensure that children grow up in safe, stable and supportive environments. She also commended SOS Children’s Villages Namibia for its longstanding contribution to child protection and family strengthening.
Samuel Edegware, a Board Member of the SOS Children’s Villages Namibia Board of Governors, reflected on the impact stories shared during the engagement, stressing that behind every programme are children, families and young people whose lives are being positively changed. The breakfast brought together government representatives, development and corporate partners, civil society organisations, donors and other stakeholders to reflect on their shared commitment to protecting children, strengthening families and creating opportunities for young people.
Through the new partnership, SOS Children’s Villages Namibia and Namboer Auctioneers CC aim to expand resource mobilisation efforts while encouraging wider community involvement in supporting vulnerable children and families.
