NamWater has announced that a planned water supply interruption affecting parts of the Khomas and Otjozondjupa regions has been rescheduled to 5 June following a request from NamPower. The interruption, which was initially scheduled for 22 May, will now take place at the Von Bach Water Treatment Plant on 5 June from 07:00 to 18:00.

According to a notice issued by NamWater, the shutdown is necessary to allow NamPower to carry out maintenance work involving the extension of an 11kV and 66kV busbar to a mobile substation at the treatment plant.NamWater said the planned power outage will result in the complete isolation of the station, directly affecting operations at the treatment plant and its pump stations.

As a result, the pump stations will be unable to transfer water for the duration of the power outage and until power supply is fully restored. The interruption is expected to affect residents and customers in Okahandja Municipality, the City of Windhoek and surrounding areas supplied by the Von Bach Water Treatment Plant.

Other affected stakeholders include Gross Barmen, Osona Military Base, Osona Village, Namib Poultry Industries, the Okapuka Road Traffic Checkpoint, Finkenstein, Herbothsbrick, Hosea Kutako International Airport and several other customers supplied from the facility. NamWater apologised for any inconvenience caused and thanked customers for their understanding and cooperation during the interruption.
