Old Mutual Foundation Ccowns Hackathon winners
The Old Mutual Foundation has officially concluded its Technovation Hackathon, marking the end of an inspiring innovation journey for young Namibians. The winners were announced following a rigorous and intense live pitch session featuring the top finalists.
The final round brought together the most promising ideas developed during the programme, with participants showcasing innovative, research-driven solutions aimed at addressing real-world challenges. The high standard of entries resulted in a tie for third place, leading to a top-four selection instead of the traditional three finalists.
In partnership with Basecamp Namibia, the Old Mutual Foundation awarded the following winners:
1st Place: Enkali Prime – Auwanga Enkali (Awarded N$50,000 in a Unit Trust)
2nd Place: LLM Legion – Ra’hab Mukirai (Awarded N$30,000 in a Unit Trust)
3rd Place: SmartConnect – Kanyangele Lamek (Awarded N$20,000 in a Unit Trust)
4th Place (Bonus Prize): Resolva – Liandro Goagoseb (Awarded N$10,000 in a Unit Trust)
Given the exceptional quality of the final pitches, the Old Mutual Foundation and Basecamp Namibia introduced the fourth-place bonus prize to recognise the outstanding effort demonstrated by all finalists who advanced to the final round.
Speaking on the outcome of the Hackathon, Patricia Olivier, Chairperson of the Old Mutual Foundation, highlighted the importance of platforms that nurture youth innovation and practical problem-solving.
“At the Old Mutual Foundation, we are committed to creating opportunities that enable young people to turn ideas into meaningful solutions. The Technovation Hackathon has demonstrated the depth of talent, creativity, and determination among our youth. The quality of the final pitches was exceptional, and it is encouraging to see the level of thought and research invested in developing solutions that contribute to sustainable futures,” said Olivier.
She added that the decision to award a fourth prize reflects the Foundation’s recognition of the excellence and commitment shown by the finalists.
“When young people are given the right platforms and support, they rise to the challenge. Together with our partners, Basecamp Namibia, we are proud to support these innovators as they continue their journeys beyond the competition.”
The Technovation Hackathon forms part of the Old Mutual Foundation’s broader commitment to empowering youth through innovation, entrepreneurship, and skills development, in line with its focus on enabling sustainable economic participation. Through initiatives such as this, the Foundation continues to invest in a future where young Namibians are equipped to move from learning to earning.
