Westair Group adds fuel surcharge

Staff Reporter

In response to escalating global and regional pressures impacting fuel supply and pricing, the Westair Group has announced the introduction of a fuel surcharge across its aviation operations. The surcharge will apply to FlyNamibia, FlyNamibia Safari, and Westair Charters.

The decision follows several weeks of volatility in fuel availability and sustained price increases driven by the ongoing conflict in the Middle East. As fuel remains one of the largest operational expenses in the aviation industry, the Westair Group said the measure is a necessary and responsible response to ensure the continued sustainability of its services.

By introducing the surcharge, the group aims to maintain its current operational standards, route network, and service reliability while continuing to provide safe air travel across Namibia and the broader region.

Henri van Schalkwyk, CEO of Westair Group, said the company remains committed to connecting Namibia and supporting the nation’s tourism and business sectors. He said the decision was not taken lightly but is essential for operating sustainably within a challenging global environment.

The surcharge becomes effective today, 23 March 2026, for all applicable bookings. The Westair Group said the fee will be reviewed regularly in alignment with international fuel price movements.

Passengers and trade partners are encouraged to consult representatives from FlyNamibia, FlyNamibia Safari, or Westair Charters for further details regarding specific booking impacts.
