B2Gold elevates employee dining
Mining company B2Gold Namibia and hospitality provider Welwitschia Services Group have opened a new dining hall at the Otjikoto mine, aimed at improving the daily experience and wellbeing of workers at the site.
The facility was inaugurated by B2Gold General Manager Eric Barnard and Welwitschia Services Group Managing Director Dirk van Schalkwyk.
Built to serve the growing needs of the mine camp, the restaurant accommodates up to 90 diners at a time and caters for a camp population of about 130 people. Most users are employees of contractor Byrnecut, while the remainder are from Bamboo Drilling and Westair Aviation.
The dining hall serves three meals a day, with breakfast and dinner offered as sit-down meals. Lunch is prepared as takeaway meals to accommodate operational shifts.
Barnard said the investment reflects the company's commitment to employee welfare.
"Our employees are our greatest asset. This dining hall provides our workforce with a dignified, comfortable space to enjoy their meals and connect with colleagues," he said.
He added that the facility gives workers an opportunity to step away from their daily duties while supporting their nutritional needs.
Van Schalkwyk said the company was proud to support B2Gold by placing employee comfort and wellbeing at the centre of its catering services.

The companies said the new facility forms part of ongoing efforts to improve hospitality services at industrial sites in Namibia.
