On Saturday, 21 June 2025, the Blush Foundation, in partnership with Nedbank Namibia, hosted its annual fundraiser event at the MTC Dome in Swakopmund. The event, themed ‘Dementia Awareness in Women,’ attracted over 130 guests, including leading health experts, performers, and empowered women from across Namibia. While the primary focus was on dementia awareness, the proceeds from the fundraiser were dedicated to supporting the Blush Foundation’s flagship initiative — The Sanitary Towel Project.

This project aims to combat period poverty by raising funds to procure and distribute sanitary towels to young girls and women in vulnerable communities across Namibia. By addressing the critical need for menstrual hygiene, the Foundation helps restore dignity, confidence, and access to education for hundreds of girls each year. Jonathan Harris, Co-founder of the Blush Foundation, welcomed the guests and expressed gratitude to the event sponsors for their support.

"This fundraiser is another testament to what is possible when communities and corporates unite for a cause. Dementia awareness may have been our focus today, but the ripple effects reach much further in our communities."

Nedbank Namibia Head of Private Banking Rosy Eixas, also spoke at the event, emphasising the importance of private sector involvement in driving social impact. "Nedbank is proud to support platforms like this one, which spark essential conversations around women’s health."

Eixas further highlighted Nedbank Namibia’s ongoing commitment to the Blush Foundation.

"At Nedbank Namibia, our commitment to the Blush Foundation began in 2022, when we proudly sponsored the sanitary project, and then followed up with sponsoring their four-person team to participate in the Nedbank Desert Dash under the "All things Charlie" charity. Additionally, we donated funds to amplify the foundation's cause further. This partnership is a testament to our ethos of being money experts who do good in the communities we operate in."

The program included a panel discussion featuring Psychologist Dr. Rykie Liebenberg, who provided medical insights into early detection and holistic care; Dietitian Jasmine Van Beek, who emphasised the importance of nutrition in cognitive health; and South African-based activist and author CandiceChirwa, who spoke on body awareness and reproductive health.
The event was sponsored by Nedbank Namibia, The MTC Dome Namibia, Nictus Namibia, MobiPay, PKF FCS, Gorgeous Wines, Benguella Butchery, Heal Health, Melissa’s Sanctuary, Book Den
Windhoek, Gondwana Namibia, Wild Rocket, Ocean View Shell, Swakopmund Luxury Suites, Body20, Swakopmund Occupational Therapy, Desert Explorers, Segura Emporium, Athena Insurance Brokers, House of Anne’s Designs, Salon Avery, and Rennies Travel.

The Blush Foundation’s annual fundraiser was a resounding success, highlighting the power of community and corporate collaboration in addressing critical social issues. By focusing on dementia
awareness and supporting the Sanitary Towel Project, the event not only raised essential funds but
also fostered a deeper understanding of women’s health issues. The continued partnership between
the Blush Foundation and Nedbank Namibia exemplifies a shared commitment to making a positive
impact in the communities they serve.
