Elisenheim Nature Estate secures environmental clearance renewal
The Elisenheim Property Development Company Limited (EPDC) has received a renewed Environmental Clearance Certificate (ECC) for the Elisenheim Nature Estate.
The renewal provides regulatory certainty for the long-term planning and development of the nature estate, which forms part of the wider Elisenheim Lifestyle Estate north of Windhoek.
EPDC, a subsidiary of APxHouse Property Development Holdings and an investee company of Trustco Group Holdings Limited, announced the renewal this week.
The certificate allows planning to continue within the approved environmental framework and is supported by an updated Environmental Management Plan. Compliance will be monitored by a dedicated Environmental Control Officer.
Elisenheim covers approximately 1 186 hectares. The Nature Estate extends into the natural landscape around the existing residential areas and along the Dobra River, where limited, low-density development is planned.
Plans include low-density clusters, mixed-use villages and selected residential and business erven, guided by ecological considerations. An on-site nursery for propagating indigenous trees and shrubs also forms part of the environmental management approach.
Le-Hugo van Rooyen, CEO of APxHouse Property Development Holdings, said the renewal reflects an ongoing effort to balance development with conservation.

Since its acquisition in 2015, Elisenheim has grown from farmland into a lifestyle community with nearly 5,000 residents. Infrastructure for walking, cycling and outdoor recreation is already integrated throughout the estate, with the Nature Estate set to build on these amenities.
EPDC, the developer behind Elisenheim, traces its roots to 2005 and officially launched the estate on 30 January 2010. The development now includes residential neighbourhoods, the Urban Village Retail Centre, a church, a daycare facility and estate-wide security infrastructure.
