Windhoek’s Hage Geingob Stadium lit up on Saturday with a star-studded performance line-up for this year’s edition of the Windhoek Jazz Festival, hosted by the City of Windhoek.
From classic tunes to their latest musical offerings, the event was filled with electrifying performances by Africa’s crème de la crème in the jazz genre, including musicians from Mozambique, Tanzania, Botswana, South Africa and Namibia.
Big names included musical legend Sipho 'Hotstix' Mabuse, one of South Africa's stateliest musical treasures, who also celebrated his birthday on the day of his performance.
He performed alongside the only remaining member of Brenda Fassie’s band, the Big Dubes, bass player David Mabasso. South Africa’s Kelly Khumalo was the headlining act, and local performers included the Ugly Creatures and Esme Songbird.
Former first lady Monica Geingos and information minister Emma Theofelus were among many who joined the audience for an unforgettable celebration of music and culture.
