Meatco has successfully completed its 2025 export commitments to Norway, marking the full utilisation of the country’s 1 200-tonne beef quota under the European Free Trade Area (EFTA) Agreement. The final consignment was shipped on 8 October 2025.
The Norwegian market remains one of Meatco’s most lucrative destinations, contributing over 20% of the corporation’s annual turnover. Through duty-free trade concessions under the EFTA–SACU Agreement, Namibia continues to secure competitive prices for its high-quality beef. These preferential trade terms ensure that the economic benefits extend beyond Meatco to local producers and the wider national economy.
To fulfil this year’s allocation, Meatco shipped 45 loads amounting to 1 153.5 tonnes of beef, in accordance with Norway’s quota conversion regulations.
Interim Chief Executive Officer Albertus Aochamub said the achievement reflects Meatco’s operational strength and long-term market strategy.
“Norway remains a cornerstone of Meatco’s marketing strategy and a trusted partner for Namibia’s world-class beef,” Aochamub stated. “Successfully fulfilling this year’s quota demonstrates our commitment to ensuring optimal returns for producers and sustainable growth for the national economy.”
Meatco continues to prioritise niche international markets that reward Namibia’s premium beef, aiming to enhance profitability, strengthen global partnerships, and deliver long-term value across the agricultural value chain.
