Metro Namibia has opened Metro Home Rundu, its second dedicated homeware store in the country, as the retailer continues to expand its lifestyle offering across Namibian communities.

The store, which officially opened on 4 September, offers customers an extensive range of homeware, décor, kitchen essentials and household goods alongside Metro's existing grocery offering in the city.

The expansion marks a significant investment in Rundu, which Eswee van Wyk, deputy managing director of Metro Namibia, described as an important market for the retailer.

"We are not simply opening another store; we are introducing a new shopping experience to the people of Rundu," van Wyk said. "Our focus remains firmly on offering quality products at affordable prices, while making shopping more convenient and accessible for our customers."

The store was designed to provide an enjoyable shopping experience whilst maintaining Metro Namibia's commitment to affordability, the company said. A preview event on 3 September invited selected lodges and media representatives to view the store before it opened to the public.

The lodges' involvement reflects Metro Home's intention to support not only households, but also the hospitality and business community in the region with an accessible range of quality home products.

Metro Namibia said the co-location of its grocery and lifestyle offerings allows customers to meet more of their shopping needs within a single destination.

The Rundu opening is the second Metro Home in Namibia, with a third store due to open in Walvis Bay later in September. The expansion demonstrates what Metro Namibia describes as momentum behind the homeware concept and its commitment to growing alongside regional communities.
