NUST and Yinson partner for oil series
The Namibia University of Science and Technology (NUST) has announced it will host a four-day public lecture series focusing on the role of Floating Production, Storage and Offloading (FPSO) technology within the nation's rapidly expanding offshore oil and gas industry.
Organised through the Namibia Energy Institute (NEI), the event will run from today, 15 to 18 June 2026. The series is being delivered in collaboration with global energy infrastructure firm Yinson Production, reflecting a shared commitment to building local capacity, developing talent, and encouraging knowledge transfer across the domestic energy sector.
FPSO vessels, essentially complex, mobile offshore production facilities, are critical infrastructure for deepwater oil and gas fields, allowing operators to process and store hydrocarbons directly at sea before transferring them to tankers. The upcoming lectures aim to demystify these operations and highlight their strategic importance to Namibia's economic future.
The event will feature insights from a panel of prominent industry figures and international experts. Attendees will hear from Mr Henrik Baardson, the Head of Global Technical Support at Yinson Production, alongside Francesco Leuzzi, the MD at Yinson Namibia. They will be joined by Nillian Mulemi, the CEO of the Petroleum Training and Education Fund (PETROFUND).
University organisers have extended a warm invitation to members of the media, industry stakeholders, and the general public to attend and cover the discussions.
The lectures will take place daily from Monday 15 June to Thursday 18 June 2026, running between 14:00 and 18:00. The venue for the entire series is the Health and Applied Sciences Auditorium, situated at the NUST Lower Campus in Windhoek.
