Okongo welcomes MTC Mobile Home
MTC has opened its first Mobile Home in Okongo, bringing telecommunications services closer to residents who previously travelled almost 100 kilometres to Eenhana to access the company's retail services.
The new outlet, officially opened on Thursday, becomes MTC's 40th retail store nationwide and forms part of the company's strategy to improve customer access to telecommunications services across Namibia.
Customers can now access a full range of services locally, including SIM card registrations and replacements, contract applications, account payments and renewals, MTC Maris services, and the purchase of airtime and other products.
MTC corporate communications practitioner Erasmus Nekundi said the opening responds to longstanding calls from the Okongo community for a permanent MTC presence.
"The people of Okongo had long called for a permanent MTC presence in the town, and we are pleased to have finally opened our new store to serve the town and surrounding communities," he said.
Nekundi said expanding customer access supports the company's broader objective of promoting digital inclusion and socio-economic development.
He added that MTC would continue investing in retail infrastructure to ensure its services remain accessible and convenient as communities grow.
Residents welcomed the new facility, saying it would reduce travel costs and improve access to essential telecommunications services.
Following the Okongo opening, MTC plans to continue expanding its retail footprint with new Mobile Homes in Walvis Bay and Okuryangava in Windhoek, the relocation of its Ongwediva store to larger premises at Oshana Mall, and additional outlets planned for Omaruru, Otjinene and potentially Outjo.
