Ongwe prepares for maiden drilling at Omatjete

Canadian-listed explorer Ongwe Minerals Inc. has voluntarily filed a technical report for its Omatjete Gold Project in Namibia as it prepares to begin a maiden diamond drilling programme at the site.

The report, titled “NI 43-101 Technical Report on the Omatjete Gold Project, Namibia”, was prepared in accordance with Canada’s National Instrument 43-101 standards for mineral project disclosures.

The report has an effective date of 31 May 2026 and was prepared by The MSA Group (Pty) Ltd. It was authored by Michael J. Robertson, a professional natural scientist and member of the Australasian Institute of Mining and Metallurgy.

Ongwe chief executive Dave Underwood said the Omatjete project had become the company’s flagship asset following regional sampling that identified a large-scale, high-grade gold-in-soil anomaly known as the Nguni target.

“Nguni is a greenfields discovery and there are no known gold occurrences in the area, highlighting how underexplored the Damara Belt in Namibia remains,” Underwood said.

The company expects to begin its maiden diamond drilling programme at Nguni in August 2026.

The technical report has been filed voluntarily under Ongwe’s profile on SEDAR+, Canada’s public securities filing system, and was not submitted in connection with a material change or prospectus.

Namibia gold focus

Ongwe is a Canadian-listed gold exploration company focused on discovering and advancing gold projects in Namibia.

The company’s team previously worked on gold discoveries associated with Osino Resources, including the Twin Hills project, which is under construction, and the Eureka deposit. The team was also involved in the advancement and sale of Auryx Gold’s Otjikoto gold deposit, now operated by B2Gold.

Ongwe’s current focus is on the Omatjete and Khorixas Gold Projects in Namibia’s emerging Northwest Damara gold belt.

The Omatjete project is located along the Okondeka Fault Zone, which also hosts WIA Gold’s Kokoseb gold deposit.

Exploration work has identified the Manga Gold Prospect, with a 4.5km by 1km gold-in-soil footprint, while early drilling has indicated gold mineralisation in bedrock.

The company has also identified the Nguni Gold Prospect, which has a 5km-long gold-in-soil footprint with values of up to 1.3 grams per tonne. The target remains open to the west, north and east.

Ongwe has secured 50km of strike length along the prospective fault zone, with regional sampling continuing to identify additional gold anomalies.

Khorixas exploration

The Khorixas Gold Project is located about 60km west of Osino’s Eureka gold project, along the northern margin of the Damara Orogenic Belt.

The project contains two surface discoveries, Belmont and K17.

Belmont has a surface gold footprint of about 12km by 6km and is located between the Khorixas Fault and Belmont Thrust Zone. Sampling has identified 18 target areas.

The K17 prospect contains copper-gold mineralisation identified through soil and rock chip sampling across an area of about 12 square kilometres.

Ongwe is planning a geophysical programme in the second half of 2026 to define potential subsurface mineralisation and develop drill targets.

Technical information

Ongwe president and co-founder Carl Joone, a registered professional natural scientist and qualified person under NI 43-101, reviewed and approved the scientific and technical information contained in the announcement.

The company said forward-looking statements contained in the announcement are subject to exploration, market and operational risks, and actual results may differ from expectations.
