Windhoek to host African energy summit
The International African Energy Oil and Gas Summit (IAEGOS) 2026 has been moved from Doha, Qatar, to Windhoek, with organisers citing instability in the Middle East.
The organising committee announced that the summit, scheduled for 21 to 25 October, will now be held in the Namibian capital. The event's theme, "Igniting Africa's Energy and Land Governance Future", and the conference programme will remain unchanged.
According to the organisers, the decision followed a review of current developments and was taken to ensure the safety and security of delegates, exhibitors and partners.
They said Windhoek offers the infrastructure needed to host the event and confirmed they are working with the Namibian government and local partners to facilitate the relocation.
Existing registrations, sponsorships and exhibitor bookings will automatically be transferred to the new venue. Delegates will receive updated information on travel, accommodation and visa arrangements.
The organisers said the summit will continue to focus on promoting investment, dialogue and partnerships across Africa's energy sector.
IAEGOS is in its fourth edition and, according to the organisers, is expected to attract more than 2,500 delegates from over 100 countries, including government ministers, energy executives, investors, regulators and industry representatives.
This year's programme will include discussions on energy investment, cross-border infrastructure, regulatory reform, land governance, financing, local content, climate finance and the energy transition. Organisers say the summit will also examine how legal and regulatory certainty can support investment in Africa's oil, gas, power and renewable energy sectors.
