Through the Havana Soup Kitchen, Natasha Penomwene Nekwaya has worked diligently to uplift her neighbourhood. The initiative was founded with a caring mission to serve needy children and their families. Nekwaya has been a regular source of aid, offering sustenance and better future possibilities.
This year, Rob Youth Foundation and the International Peace Youth Group (IPYG) joined forces to bring a stunning Christmas event to the Havana Soup Kitchen.
The Rob Youth Foundation, spearheaded by Robert Maseka, is dedicated to creating opportunities for Namibian youth across various sectors of society.
The IPYG, an international organisation originating from South Korea, aims to unite global youth for the cause of peace and the cessation of wars. With over 110 branches worldwide, it collaborates with individuals, civil society, religious leaders and people from all walks of life to actively pursue a peaceful world for future generations.
The upcoming Christmas celebration at the Havana Soup Kitchen serves a profound purpose to bring joy, warmth and a sense of community to the children in the Katutura area during the festive season. This ambitious initiative seeks to create lasting memories through a programme filled with engaging activities and games, complemented by a hearty meal for the children.
The collaboration between the Rob Youth Foundation and the IPYG reflects a shared passion for peace and a commitment to making a positive impact on the lives of Namibian youth. By actively participating in the organisation and facilitation of this event, these youth-focused volunteer groups demonstrate the power of collective action in fostering unity and goodwill within the community.
As Christmas approaches, the Havana Soup Kitchen stands as a testament to the transformative impact that individuals and organisations can have when they come together for a common cause. The children of Katutura can look forward to a Christmas celebration that goes beyond the exchange of gifts, a celebration that instils a sense of belonging, community and hope for a brighter future.
