From hypothesis to wow!
Coastal High learners showcase scientific spirit
This year’s science fair was truly unforgettable for us at Coastal High! From creative ideas to national recognition, our school showed just how powerful young minds can be when they care about their communities. One of the most inspiring projects came from Unomuinjo Zamuee, who created “Turning Trash into Flame.” His idea? Turning everyday waste into a flame that can be used for cooking and heating – a huge help for families without access to electricity. He wanted to find a cheaper, more eco-friendly solution for people in places like the DRC settlement. His project won gold at the circuit and regional levels, bronze nationally, and he was also named Best in Category!
Elina Amukwaya also made the school proud with her project, “Namibian E-Commerce Website for Local Products.” After struggling to advertise her own small business, she decided to create a website where other young entrepreneurs could promote their products. She said she hopes more young women will feel confident enough to share their ideas too.
Lastly, Immanual Gariseb reminded us all that this journey wasn’t just about medals, even though he won three golds! He said it was about learning, teamwork, and the pride of representing our school and the Erongo Region, where we even received sponsored tracksuits from Rössing Uranium.
Overall, it was a year of hard work, growth and celebrating science together. We’re proud of our Coastal High team – and we’re just getting started!
