Having a blast playing basketball

The Deutsche Höhere Privatschule Windhoek (DHPS) basketball teams were once again invited to attend the prestigious International School of Southern Africa (ISSA) under-19 Basketball Festival in Mafikeng, South Africa, from 8 to 10 March.
The ISSA basketball trip is an annual event which takes place just outside of Johannesburg. It is where both the under-19 girls and boys play in a tournament against other schools and teams. The three-day tournament really priorities the learners and their basketball skills.
Unfortunately, the girls could not tag along due to lack of players. Lucky for us, we still had a team of seven boys who proudly represented DHPS. The team consisted of Nathan Mungunda, Henzo Dos Santos, Moses Shapi, Patrick Taziwa, Zion Sindano, Andre Uys and Smart Hiskia.
On the day of their arrival, the boys played a tough game and sadly lost. On the second day, the team played three games - winning two and losing one. Then, on the final day of the tournament, the team played their last game. Afterwards, they stayed for the awards ceremony then left back to the hotel.
Because the boys sadly lost two games, they didn't qualify for the quarter-finals. Even though they only had seven players, they still triumphed and were in the top 10 out of 30 teams. They got a chance to play for their positions. Although our boys are not coming back with a championship or trophy, because of hardships and defeats, they came back with a better and stronger team, better teamwork and they were taught a very valuable lesson.
On the last day, they had time to relax and explore Sandton and Johannesburg and detox from all the stress they had.
