Head Boy and Head Girl
Head boy: Marshalino LotsBeing head boy at Dr Lemmer High School has honestly been one of the greatest honours of my life. When I first took on the role, I didn’t fully understand what it would entail. I just knew it was something special. But along the way, I realised it’s about much more than wearing a badge or giving speeches. It’s about showing up, leading by example and being someone others can count on.
This year has taught me a lot about patience, teamwork and staying humble. There were days when it was stressful, but those moments also pushed me to grow. The best part was seeing how everyone at Dr Lemmer supports each other. It really feels like a family.
I’m grateful for every teacher who believed in me, every learner who trusted me, and every memory we made together. Being head boy wasn’t always easy, but it was worth every second. I’ll always carry this experience with me, proud to say I was part of something bigger than myself - the Dr Lemmer spirit.
Now, as I pass the torch to the next set of leaders, I feel a rush of both pride and excitement for the future of our school. I hope that every student steps up to find their own way to serve, whether it’s through a formal role or simply by being a good friend and role model. Thank you, Dr Lemmer, for giving me this unforgettable chapter. I wish the new leaders every success on their own journey.
Head girl: Nichola Meiring
It is not easy to step into a position of leadership. To give someone such a position means you trust that person to lead their peers with all the qualities of a true leader.
I feel honoured to have been the head girl of Dr Lemmer High School in 2025, as I have discovered new qualities in myself and my peers. It was my duty to set an example for my school, and I hope I have fulfilled it. It was not an easy task, but my achievements outweigh the challenges by a mile. I have met new people and visited new places, but most importantly, I have learned when to be humble and when to stand my ground.
Building on this foundation, I have come to understand that true leadership extends beyond mere titles or personal accomplishments. It is about fostering an environment where everyone feels valued, heard and empowered to contribute their best. This often requires active listening, empathy and the courage to make difficult decisions that serve the greater good, even when they are unpopular.
Looking ahead, I am excited to carry these lessons forward. The experiences of leading, learning and growing have instilled in me a sense of purpose. I believe that by continuously striving for excellence, supporting those around me, and remaining true to my values, I can continue to make a positive impact in any role I undertake.
