Independence Day: A day to remember

Kambai Kovii
Independence Day is a day during which many celebrate years of peace and prosperity, but for our beautiful school, it's a day to celebrate each other, our history, and our diversity.
21 March is a day most eagerly awaited by the learners of Chairman Mao Zedong High School, and this year's celebrations were truly worth the wait. Spectacular talents were showcased, as usual, leaving everyone on the edge of their seats.
Among the cultural dance performances showcased on the day were an Ovambo, Nama and Herero dance, in addition to an Angolan dance performance of the Kizomba.
Every dance was unique and performed by dancers who clearly wanted to represent and thrive in the tradition.
Fellow learners delivered heartwarming speeches and poems highlighting wonderful cultures and beautiful traditions.
We were also honoured with a performance by Namibian artist Tango.
But the fun didn't end there.
Following the indoor celebrations, we were led outside by our LRC for the color festival, which was a highlight of the day.
We used the colours blue and yellow, respectively, in a beautiful and colourful display. On that day, Chairman Mao Zedong High School really outdid itself. It was indeed a colorful event, and it was spent getting to know different types of cultures.
