The International Training College Lingua officially opened its new training centre in Usakos on 19 November 2025 - a development widely celebrated as a transformative step for education, skills development and community empowerment in the Erongo Region.
Speaking at the inauguration, Erongo governor Natalia /Goagoses described the opening as “a proud day for the people of Usakos and the entire region.” She highlighted Lingua’s 24-year journey from a small language centre to one of Namibia’s first accredited private institutions, now offering programmes from Certificate Level 1 to PhD Level 10.
She emphasised that the expansion into Usakos aligns with national goals of education accessibility, youth empowerment and job creation.
The mayor of Usakos, Irene Simeon-Kurz, applauded Lingua’s leadership for choosing the town, calling the development a bold affirmation of the town’s potential. She recalled the Memorandum of Understanding signed between the Usakos Town Council and Lingua College in 2024, describing it as a partnership aimed at unlocking local economic and educational growth. “This institution is more than a building; it is a gateway to skills, opportunity, and prosperity,” she said.
Founder and CEO of Lingua College, Ingrid Kloppers-Mettler, expressed pride in expanding education to underserved communities. She noted that the Usakos centre would offer programmes in agriculture, business, ICT, engineering, education, tourism, healthcare and more. She urged the community to embrace education as a tool for transformation, stressing that educated citizens can drive innovation, strengthen governance, preserve heritage and uplift local youth.
