Close to 70 trainees from the Namibia Wildlife Resorts Hospitality Institute (NWR HI) graduated in various tourism and hospitality disciplines.
This is the first graduation ceremony since the institute was founded in 2020.
NWR managing director Matthias Ngwangwama said this achievement will allow the graduates to combine both practical and theoretical knowledge at their work places, the Khorixas Rest Camp and Gross Barmen Resort.
“Today, on this historic occasion, we are witnessing 69 trainees graduating with different qualifications in various specialisations in hospitality and tourism level three, such as front office operations, commercial cookery, housekeeping operations, food and beverage services, as well as trainees in local tourism guiding," he said.
He added: “To all our graduates, what you achieved today is historic. You must truly believe, deep down in your heart, that you have an accredited qualification that gives you hope. Do not be put off by criticism that your qualifications are not useful. You had an opportunity to study theory in tourism and hospitality, combining it with practical application at a big and well-established institution like NWR,” he said.
