The 2025 Quintets Athletics Tournament was nothing short of spectacular – a blazing showcase of athletic excellence, fierce rivalry, and school spirit at its peak.
Held on 17 February at the UNAM Stadium, the tournament exceeded every expectation, leaving athletes, teachers and supporters breathless with excitement.
The participating high schools – Hage Geingob, C.J. Brandt, Highline, A. Shipena, and Havana Project – brought their A-game to what is now being called the most unforgettable zonal athletics showdown in recent memory.
The UNAM Stadium was abuzz with energy as hundreds of students, teachers and supporters filled the stands, waving banners and echoing war cries that shook the ground. The tournament featured a spectacular line-up of events including long jump, high jump, javelin, discus, shot put, and the electrifying 100, 200, and 1,000-metre races.
Hage Geingob truly outdid themselves. Determined to uplift the spirit of their athletes, the school arranged transport to ensure every learner could attend. The sea of blue and white in the stands was impossible to miss, and the echoing chants of “Go Hage, Go!” energised the competitors like never before.
“It was like running in a dream,” said Hendrina Kalume, a rising sprint star from Hage Geingob. “I was shaking at the start, but hearing the cheers of my school turned my nerves into pure fire.”
In an unexpected twist, some teachers joined the races, sprinting alongside learners, cheering them on and adding an unforgettable touch of fun to the competition. The cheerleading squads elevated the energy even further, dazzling the crowd with flips, chants, and spirit.
Vendors sold ice-cold refreshments, music thundered through the stadium, and the entire day felt like a carnival of champions. From record-breaking throws to photo-finish races, every moment was drenched in glory.
Although a few athletes felt they could have done more, the overall consensus was clear: the 2025 Quintets Athletics Tournament wasn’t just a competition – it was a legendary chapter in the history of school sport.
