Voice of Namibia Kidz crowns winner
Amazing talents given platform to thrive
The fourth season of Voice of Namibia Kidz celebrated young Namibian vocal talent.
The winners for the fourth season of Voice of Namibia Kidz were announced last Saturday.Salukazi Akwaake won first place, followed by Annika Henckert in second and Rayne Sadler in third place.
The competition was made possible with the support of Varta Consumer Batteries Namibia, Remington Namibia, Elisenheim Spar and The Ugly Creatures Band.
Salukazi started with her training at a young age and at only 11 years old, she caught the attention of the judges and took home the title.
Alinda Lu'Mar, founder and owner of Voice of Namibia, described Salukazi as "one of the most hardworking and dedicated young singers that I have worked with. I've known Salu since the age of eight years and became her vocal trainer."
Salukazi will be the brand new ambassador for Voice of Namibia Kidz for the remainder of 2024, taking over from Magdaleen Pretorius, who won last year.
Honing talent
About the competition's history, Lu'Mar said: "In 2018, the first season of Voice of Namibia was launched for people aged 16 and older. In 2019, we wanted to improve and go bigger with this competition and started Voice of Namibia Kidz. This was the fourth year of Voice of Namibia Kidz. Because of the Covid-19 pandemic and lockdown, we could not do competitions. Over the years, the competition grew into one of the most prestigious events in Namibia."
Salukazi also attended the World Championships of the Performing Arts last year in Los Angeles. She is a powerhouse at the age of 11 and many are following her career closely to see how she will progress.
"I absolutely love it to see how every young artist starts with a dream and I will do everything in my power to let them use their voice in the music industry and to help them grow into great singers. My belief and motto are to help the upcoming singer grow," Lu'Mar added.
