When yellow meets blue: LRC exchange unites two schools
Hage Geingob and A. Shipena came together for a two-day Learners’ Representative Council (LRC) exchange, offering something refreshing for Katutura that sparked excitement, collaboration and a whole lot of school spirit. The first day began at the Blue School, A. Shipena, where Hage Geingob’s LRC members were warmly welcomed. Learners toured the school, shared ideas, and discussed common challenges faced by student leaders. From discipline strategies to cleanliness campaigns, nothing was off the table. Laughter, learning, and leadership defined the day.
Day two shifted to the Yellow School, Hage Geingob, where the Shipena team got a taste of their neighbor’s culture, values, and leadership style. The energy was unmatched as both groups continued bonding, now with the added comfort of familiarity.
Together, they explored how their roles as LRCs shape their schools and create positive environments for learners.
The exchange wasn’t just about rules and routines. It was also about relationships. As the head girl of Hage Geingob, Diana Ekandjo, stated, “It felt like a connection of the big two.”
She expressed excitement for the potential of future collaborations, calling the experience a glimpse of what’s possible when schools unite for a common purpose.
Both schools left the exchange with new ideas, stronger connections, and a renewed sense of pride in their roles. And while they wear different colors, they now share something powerful: a partnership rooted in purpose and student empowerment.
