A love for numbers

Describing himself as a charismatic and self-driven individual, Simon A Ekandjo is 23 years old, and was born in Oshakati. He is currently an audit trainee at PWC Namibia.

Education
Ekandjo attended primary school in Oshakati at Erundu Combined School, where he completed his grade one to eight. “During grade eight, my parents, informed by their awareness and my potential, made the decision to move me to Windhoek," he said.
He then started grade nine at Windhoek Technical High School, where he finished high school.
“I did not know what I wanted to exactly pursue after my matric, as my mindset was quite multidisciplinary. It was, however, I would like to believe, fate that lead me into the accounting journey,” Ekandjo said.
After discovering that he had a passion for accounting and numbers, he enrolled for a bachelor’s in accounting (chartered accountancy) at the University of Namibia (Unam).
Following a productive and fruitful three years, he then qualified to enroll at Northwest University, Potchefstroom, South Africa, to complete his postgraduate diploma in accounting CTA (certificate in the theory of accounting). “I completed my CTA and was successful. My journey continued with PwC until to date,” Ekandjo said.

Tutoring
Ekandjo has an undeniable passion for numbers and made a decision to share his skills. “I have decided to assist varsity students locally and internationally to help ease their journey and plant the seed of understanding,” he said.
He founded NamAfrika Consultants in early 2021 and its primary focus is to deliver quality and professional tutoring services to students. The company currently employs two tutors who assist in delivering this mandate.
“As we grow our clientele base locally and in South Africa, we hope to bring more tutors on board to join the family and assist students to realise their dreams,” he said.

Encouragement
Ekandjo advised those wanting to follow in his footsteps that although being financially stable is important, one's main aim should be to “strive to deliver with a passion and not for the money”. This, he believes, means that one will have to go above and beyond for clients.
