Benedikt Herold Gaseb, a dedicated and long-serving employee of the Motor Vehicle Accident Fund (MVA Fund), joined the organisation on 4 January 2005. This year marks his 20th year of service.

Driven by a commitment to academic excellence, Gaseb pursued studies at the Tshwane University of Technology, the Namibia University of Science and Technology (NUST), Lund University in Sweden, and the Northwestern University Centre for Public Safety in Evanston, Illinois, USA. He also obtained an honours degree in criminal justice from NUST.

Gaseb has held several key roles at the MVA Fund, including public education officer and senior accident and injury prevention officer.

He was also seconded to the Automobile Association of Namibia, where he headed the technical support services division for three years.

“These roles have provided me with a broad and valuable perspective on injury prevention, road safety and forensic investigation within the transport and health sector,” he explained.

In his current role as a forensic investigator, Gaseb is responsible for conducting investigations, analysing data for signs of fraud, and working closely with stakeholders to safeguard the integrity of the fund’s operations.

“I also provide strategic input on preventative measures and conduct awareness training, blending both fieldwork and analytical tasks,” he explained.

He has also led high-impact investigations that helped the fund save resources, designed road safety campaigns with measurable outcomes, and contributed to the development of technical support frameworks.

His advice to young professionals is to embrace every challenge as an opportunity for growth. Perseverance, discipline and a strong ethical compass, he says, are essential.

“Long-term success is not about shortcuts – it’s built on consistency, respect for the process and a commitment to excellence,” he emphasised.

Outside of work, he is passionate about mentoring, promoting public safety education and contributing to the wellbeing of his community. LONG SERVICE AWARD | Benedikt Herold Gaseb | Motor Vehicle Accident Fund
