The Moses ||Garoëb Constituency handed over equipment and material worth N$295 000 to four community development groups, while also supporting vulnerable learners from Abraham Iiyambo Primary School through its Back-to-School Programme.

Speaking at the handover ceremony, constituency councillor Stefanus Ndengu said the initiative forms part of ongoing efforts to uplift communities and improve livelihoods. “It is an honour to witness another important milestone in our ongoing efforts to empower communities and improve the livelihoods of our people.”

Ndengu added that similar support was provided to 25 beneficiaries last year.

“Last year, we handed over equipment and materials valued at N$270 000 to 25 beneficiaries. Today, we are pleased to hand over equipment and materials worth N$295 000 to support four community development groups,” he said.

The beneficiaries include a communication and technology group supporting the Moses ||Garoëb Youth Forum to strengthen digital skills; a tailoring, manufacturing and fashion design group aimed at promoting entrepreneurship and local production; and two agricultural groups, which received equipment and materials valued at N$230 000 to enhance food production and income generation.

In addition, vulnerable learners from the constituency benefited from the Back-to-School Programme, which provided full school uniforms, including shoes, school bags, socks, trousers, skirts, pencil cases, gloves and other essentials, at a cost of N$50 000.

The Ministry of Gender Equality, Poverty Eradication and Social Welfare also supported small and medium enterprises through income-generating activities by providing one beneficiary with equipment and materials valued at N$15 000.

One of the beneficiaries representing the youth forum, Mwene-Ati Selma, thanked stakeholders for their support. She said the equipment would benefit community learners as the world becomes increasingly digital. She urged beneficiaries to use the resources responsibly for the benefit of the broader community.

Ndengu concluded by saying that the handover goes beyond material support. “It is an investment in the future of our constituency. When we empower youth with technology, support small enterprises, strengthen agriculture and ensure that learners have the necessary school essentials, we are building a stronger, more self-reliant and inclusive society.” – [email protected]
