Kilos for kids

"Our children are the future and we believe they should be given the chance for good education."
With this as incentive, parents of Pro-Ed Akademie in Swakopmund established an academic fund for financial support in terms of school fees and which enables pupils to still be part of the school and teaching despite financial constraints.
To raise money for the fund, parents took the lead with a fundraising campaign Kilo's for Kids, which in 2017 raised N$160 000. This year, the spokes are singing again for the fund with 1 000 km covered by bicycles in seven days. The route stretches from "border to border", or from Gobabis to Swakopmund and covers gravel and "back" roads with tarred and main roads that are avoided.
The four cyclists, JD Engels, Claudia and Fanus Bredenhann and Anri Parker who also won the killer Munga challenge, started at Buitepos on Sunday and are expected to arrive in Swakopmund next Sunday.
According to Pro-Ed Akademie's CEO, Christiaan Grobler, its' parents who drive "and also drive the aid fund for those parents who suffer financially".
A competition is also part of Kilo's for Kids in which lodges to guesthouses sponsor prizes for a lucky draw. Persons who make a donation to the fund are automatically part of the draw.
