Namibia’s Albertina heading to Miss Heritage Global

The Miss Heritage Global pageant that was postponed last year due to the pandemic, will now be hosted in Limpopo, South Africa, on 24 September, with Albertina Shilelo representing Namibia.
Albertina (20) is one of the 57 contestants participating in the pageant where she will use the platform to educate and contribute to the diversity of heritage and culture.
“My goal is to learn and build a sisterhood beyond the pageant whilst working hard and having a fruitful journey,” she said.
This is not Albertina’s first time entering a pageant, as she also participated in Miss Africa Golden Namibia, Miss Face of Namibia and Miss Inspiration Kavango.
“As someone that has entered pageants before, I believe what I learned was not in vain and I will use the skills I acquired, such as public and motivational speaking. I thoroughly enjoy playing sports and I have realised this requires a lot of discipline, which I think are important attributes to succeed in any aspect of my life, including this pageant,” she said.
Miss Heritage Global is the first beauty pageant that focuses on the promotion of heritage and the only internationally recognised international pageant hosted and based in Africa.
Contestants can expect to go on a journey filled with glamour and life-long lessons as the finalists will be groomed and trained. Additionally, contestants will spread awareness through advocacy, and be challenged with expressing and presenting their culture through fashion and dialogues on women empowerment.
Founder and international relations manager of Miss Heritage Global, Ronald Tisauke, said that the pageant hopes to educate individuals on different cultures and heritage whilst embracing what makes us who we are.
The pageant’s chief executive, Mbofholowo Lorraine Mbodi, added that contestants can look forward to experiencing Limpopo’s indigenous culture and environment.
The pageant’s date is even more fitting since September is Heritage Month in South Africa.
The Miss Heritage Global pageant brings together young women between the ages of 17 and 28 from all nations and different social backgrounds to become involved in initiating positive change through the use of beauty pageantry to promote world heritage and tourism.
