Namibian singer and songwriter Alvarita Benedito Lucungo, known by her stage name Alvara, is set to take to another international stage.

She will represent Namibia at the renowned Grenzenlos Culture Festival in Mainz, Germany – one of Europe’s leading festivals for inclusive arts, music, and performance.

Earlier this year, she represented Namibia at the Inclusive Africa Conference in Nairobi, Kenya, where she captivated audiences with her passion for inclusion and diversity.

Her participation in the German festival was made possible by a full sponsorship from the Goethe-Institut Namibia, marking another major milestone in her career.

“I am extremely excited! This is a wonderful opportunity for the entire Namibian arts industry and for people with disabilities,” said Alvarita.

Born with glaucoma and astigmatism, Alvarita has undergone numerous surgeries to relieve pressure in her eye, which has left her partially sighted. Yet, with her white cane, she confidently steps onto international stages, proving that a disability need not be an obstacle to success and creativity.

With her unique blend of R&B, soul, and Afropop, Alvarita brings to life themes of hope, self-determination, and resilience. Her music carries a powerful message: disability is not inability – it is simply a different lens through which greatness shines.

The Grenzenlos Culture Festival, now in its 27th year, brings together artists from all over the world to celebrate diversity, dialogue, and inclusion.

Alvarita’s participation is a moment of national pride, highlighting Namibia’s presence in the global creative economy.
