In a bid to ensure safety on Namibian roads and reduce the number of road accidents, the Road Fund Administration (RFA) donated 22 vehicles and other traffic-related equipment to the Namibian Police.
The handover ceremony took place at the police headquarters last week.
Inspector General of the Namibian Police, Lieutenant General Joseph Shikongo, said that the police were allocated an amount of N$92.7 million for the procurement of new vehicles in the 2023/2024 financial year.
“A total of 113 motor vehicles, three boats and two trailers were purchased with funds from the NamPol budget and RFA financial aid. Forty motor vehicles and two trailers have been delivered by the suppliers so far, while 73 vehicles and three boats are expected from the suppliers in due course. In addition, an amount of N$9.5 million was made available by RFA as part of its corporate responsibility to procure an additional 22 motor vehicles to support traffic law enforcement,” Shikongo said.
