No more free water from CoW

The City of Windhoek (CoW) announced the end of free water and the reinstatement of prepaid water supply to the capital's informal settlements.
In a notice, the CoW said that the prepaid water system would be reinstated and that going forward, residents would be required to use their water tokens to get water, as was the case in the past. Those that have lost heir water tokens, must buy new ones from their nearest municipal offices.
The CoW has been supplying free water to the informal settlements since March 2020 due to Covid-19. However, the supply of free water has caused a tremendous financial burden on council, and thus they resolved to cease with the supply of free water by reinstating the prepaid water system.
