Republikein's bridal couple winners direct N$10 000 to Ruach Elohim
Republikein's Bridal Couple of the Year 2025, Edwin and Zenea Blaauw, today donated a N$10 000 charitable donation from the Namibia Diamond Trading Company (Namdia) to the Ruach Elohim Foundation, a registered child protection organisation advocating against baby dumping and abortion, in Swakopmund.Namdia’s spokesperson, Beverley Coussement, said the donation formed part of the company’s initiative to incorporate giving back into its annual bridal competition.
“Since we started this three years ago, couples have been excited about the opportunity to choose where the N$10 000 donation goes. This year’s winners chose Ruach Elohim, and our management agreed it was a fantastic choice,” she said.
Zenea Blaauw said the foundation’s values aligned with their own. “They are anti-dumping and anti-abortion. As followers of Jesus, we believe every child deserves a chance. They protect, uplift and give these children a chance they would not have had otherwise,” she said.
Ruach Elohim founder Ronel Peters said the support was “like an answer to prayers”. “These babies didn’t ask to be here, yet they need love and support. Without community support like this, we cannot do what we do as well as we do it,” she said, adding that the visit coincided with the adoption of a baby into a permanent family.
