Training at the heart of entrepreneurial opportunities

Capricorn Foundation commits over N$600 000 towards training programmes
Given that Namibia grapples with high unemployment rates, the Capricorn Foundation was prompted to help in alleviating the associated social challenges. Within its Economic Advancement focus, the foundation reiterates its commitment to fostering employment and entrepreneurship by allocating over N$600 000 towards training initiatives.
Under the banner of Women at Work, the foundation channelled N$275 000 to empower individuals, particularly those lacking formal education qualifications. W@W addresses the dearth of skills among Namibian youth by providing training in areas such as dressmaking, pattern design, hospitality, cooking, and baking. Upon completion, participants receive certificates enhancing their employability. The program extends beyond technical skills, incorporating financial, communication, and life skills development.
Men on the Side of the Road (MSR) is a comprehensive initiative targeting unemployed individuals, including those sitting by the roadside, out-of-school youth, and women. The programme focuses on vocational training, and partnering with businesses for job placements. It is specially designed for youth, unskilled workers, and vulnerable communities facing limited employment prospects. The Capricorn Foundation committed N$326 150 to support MSR's training programs and operational costs.
Reflecting the foundation's commitment to tangible change, Executive Officer Marlize Horn emphasizes the importance of these projects in transforming real lives. “As a Connector of Positive Change, the Capricorn Foundation takes pride in contributing to initiatives that empower individuals to secure employment, become self-employed, and foster Namibia's economic growth.”
