Creating positive change this festive season

Since it’s the season to give, Capricorn Group employees stepped into their role as Changemakers to spread the holiday cheer by giving back to the most vulnerable communities as part of their Regional Christmas Drive last Friday.
Changemakers from across the country joined specific activities and projects closest to their branch or department to set up gardens, serve meals, donate items, paint, and hand out Christmas goodies.
The organisations that benefitted from the Regional Christmas Drive are:
Christ's Hope Care Centre (Oshikuku): Changemakers partook in the community garden development to provide orphaned and vulnerable children with nutritional meals.
Lighthouse Children and Youth Ministry (Rehoboth): Changemakers assisted with painting, gardening, and game interactions at the Lighthouse Ministry, which offers holistic care programmes, providing emotional, physical, spiritual and educational care to 75 vulnerable children and teenagers in the Rehoboth community.
Hope for Life Foundation (Windhoek): Changemakers donated baby clothes, blankets and products and supported the establishment of a garden at the Hope for Life Foundation, which operates a child protection centre providing temporary care for babies awaiting adoption.
Ruach Elohim (Swakopmund): Changemakers set up a basic pot garden and a sand pit for the babies at the Foundation, whose prime focus is preventing baby dumping and providing a safe and loving home for abandoned babies.
Volunteerism
The Changemaker programme is Capricorn's employee volunteerism vehicle and supports the group's CSR vision to create economic value responsibly, which creates sustainable opportunities for advancing and improving the economic and social conditions in the communities where we operate.
Changemakers supported these initiatives by going above and beyond to make the day special for the communities.
One of the Changemakers Charne Ramjit from Bank Windhoek Ongwediva service centre had this to say about her experience. “Richard P Faynman once said that the highest form of understanding we can achieve are laughter and human compassion. I firmly believe a random act of kindness no matter how small can bring about happiness to others.”
“We are grateful for our open-hearted employees who are always willing to give and spread happiness in their role as Changemakers. We are very grateful and thank them for their high spirits and willingness to participate in something beyond their own lives. They certainly made this Christmas memorable for communities most in need,” Marlize Horn, Capricorn Group Executive: Brand & Corporate Affairs, said.
